I do believe that trail could use some maintenance.
I could not do it anymore, but, except for the spots where the trail has fallen in, we've rode, horseback on worse trails in the Tetons.. Take paths like this and add a foot or more of loose shale, that's what some of the trails in the Tetons were like.

Oh, GOOD Grief! I would be crawling so I couldn't see over the edge -- how on earth did that person walk over those beams? I would be dead. No,
actually, I just wouldn't ever DO that, LOL.

Wish I did have some pictures. Was too busy watching what we were doing. That was before our digital camera. I will look and see if any of the pictures we took
show these trails. Never tried scanning any of them, but worth trying.
To me, the really unnerving trails, were those where my horse's head and neck was out over the drop off on the switch backs. Nothing but 1000's of feet to the bottom. And these were not smooth clean trails like in this video. They had lots of loose shale on them. I guess that's why we've not gone back to the Tetons. They have some great scenery, but I know I couldn't ride them now. It was in the Tetons that we came the closest to spending a night in the mountains. We made a wrong turn and wound up coming down the final mountain at 11:00 pm in the moon light. A GPS would have been nice that evening. That was the longest day in the saddle we've ever had. We spent 15 hours in the saddle that day. Good thing our ponies were in shape.

No, No, NO! I could not do that, Bob...! How long ago was it that you rode the Tetons? Not that it matters, as I said before, there wasn't a day in my life that I could ride trails like that -- strictly me....my horse was steady, but I would have been frozen with fear... Scooter |

Don't let riding with Bob scare you. This year will be our fourth trip out west with him and if we ever encounter anything dangerous we will turn around
and go back. There is only one time that we have done this. We got off our horses and Nolan our son and Bob walked across where we were wanting to go and they
came back and said no we should not go. I am sort of scared of heights and honestly I am not that good of a rider and there has not been any place besides
that, that I did not want to go. Although there was one time in MO along a bluff that me and Dave did get off and walk, but we have been through there many
times since and did not get off. Sometimes it looks more dangerous than it actually is.

And then there is my wife. She will frequently walk the easier trails and ride the tough ones, Go figure, Women.

We rode with a guy last fall whose mother's favorite saying was "If you ain't living on the edge, you ain't living." I bet she would like
that trail.
